Invitation to League Members

MAT’s meetings have been set at twice per month, on Fridays between 12:00 P.M. and 1:30 P.M., at the Mountlake Terrace library.  Next meeting dates are April 12th and 26th.  Let us know if you are interested in joining the team, or want to participate with any of our upcoming proposed marketing efforts/events. Email MAT at: info@lwvsnoho.org.

LWVWA High School Video Competition Update

New(er) to MAT, Leslie Raphael, joined up, jumped in with both feet, and hit the ground running to head up our high school competition outreach efforts.

At Friday’s meeting Leslie reported having made direct contact with five district communications officers that are now on board and organizing student participation at their schools.  This, in addition to Sultan High, brings our Snohomish County high school participation to six schools so far.

Direct Marketing Networks to Schools

But wait, there’s more!  Leslie and Cindy Gobel, are working up details on an existing direct marketing network access to high school, students, parents, and administration!  It’s called Peachjar, a private website used exclusively by schools as an internal communication network.  Access to Peachjar by outside organizations is fee-based, per number of schools targeted for information sharing during the school year.

Peachjar is potentially a dynamic tool for LWVSC to use for:

  • Targeted communication about the video competition.

  • Invitations to participate with tabling voter registration and voter education.

  • Development of a young people’s League association.

  • Observer Corps.

  • Most importantly, a conduit for marketing the League and our activities directly to young voters.

Tabling Engagement —Content Development
MAT is preparing a budget request for next month’s Board meeting that will add another component to tabling events.  The request is for the purchase of a prize wheel and printing of voter education game content.  Game content will use True-False voter education questions, disinformation vs. misinformation questions and fact vs. fiction questions, with prizes for correct answers. We invite League members to forward any additional ideas they may have for multiple choice questions, True/False, and voter trivia ideas. Contact our Team.

 The goal:

  • Increasing opportunities for interaction between the public and League members at our tabling events.

  • Adding reasons to engage with those already registered to vote.

  • Include more than voter registration at tabling events and increased opportunities for voter education.

  • Use tabling to promote membership with LWVSC and other areas of League engagement.

Everett July 4th Parade—The Color of Freedom

The Preparations

Everett’s 4th of July parade will be a physical reminder (to a central Snohomish County 7000+ parade crowd) that LWVSC is alive, kicking, and more relevant than ever as we head into this year’s national election.  And how are we going to do that?  Well . . . read on and sign up.

Nadine Shanti took the parade on as her baby.  In true Nadine fashion, she lent her prodigious talents to working up two call-response team chants destined to be the heart and soul of our parade presence.  And that’s where you come in.  Putting LWVSC parade presence over the top can only happen with your participation and support.

MAT would love to have:

  • Twelve call/response team members. (We have seven so far.) The team will have two one-hour rehearsals in June prior to the parade. Date and time TBD.

  • Walkers engaging with the crowd handing out stickers and flanking the call-response team.

  • One or two in suffragist costume—(hopefully riding—we’re looking into vintage cars).

  • Members planted at two different intersections on the parade route ready to hold up VOTE signs as our call/response team does their thing.

Preparations for our parade presence, the look, actions, dress, and mobilization are in full swing.  This is the time to get on board and be part of what’s shaping up to be a kick-a*# time.  Let’s make some noise!!!

Sign up directly by emailing:  Nadine Shanti. So please sign up and join the fun.
