Observer Corps

Mission

Are you looking for an easy way to learn about decision-making in your community? Members of the League’s Observer Corps listen, learn, and report factual information about proceedings in local councils, boards, committees, or commissions in our county. As an observer, you are the eyes and ears of the League.

For more information about Observer Corps, see the national League resource guide, Observing Your Government in Action.

Importance

In 2022, League observer Julie Winchell educated us about the processes for decision-making on a new airport in Washington State, and on which airports can absorb some added passenger and cargo capacity until the new airport is built. Her reports on the Commercial Aviation Coordinating Commission and the Paine Field Airport Commission are well-written and informative, and focus on issues of importance to Snohomish County residents. LWVSC members can read them in the Completed Observer Corps Reports.
