Who We Are

The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County (LWVSC) is a branch of the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWV).  Members of LWVSC are also members of the national League and of the League of Women Voters of Washington (LWVWA).

LWVSC is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and, after member study and agreement, works to influence public policy through education and advocacy.

Learn More about Us

For those who are new, or not-so-new, to the League and to LWVSC, this About LWVSC document(PDF) provides a lot of basic information about history, principles, organization, values, structure, and common terminology.

Every year, we define our program of work, based on the positions we have adopted. The program guides the activities of our League, implemented through our units and committees.

Read more about the work of LWVSC and our committees in The Voter newsletter.

Come to a Meeting...
League meeting

LWVSC hosts monthly all-member meetings, September to May in alternating locations throughout the county. Hear what's happening in committees and meet other members! There is a daytime meeting, often with a guest speaker, and an evening meeting with a recap and more social time.

Check our Event Calendar to find all membership meetings.

As of 2023, we no longer meet by geographical units (North/Central/South), but rather encourage members to attend a meeting that fits their schedule. We strive to arrange meeting times and locations that meet various needs.

The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 by leaders of the Women's Suffrage movement. Read more about League history. In 2019-2020 our LWVSC Centennial Committee led our commemoration of the 100th anniversary of women obtaining the vote in the United States, and the founding of the League of Women Voters. We've been busy the past year.
