The League of Women Voters of Washington authorized the study at its May 2023 convention. Use

Before the state board develops positions based on the study, local leagues are asked to conduct consensus meetings. The goal of these meetings is to discuss the study and the consensus questions. Each league then prepares a response which is sent to the state board.
The Snohomish County League held its consensus meeting on February 25 at the Lynnwood Library. Twenty-one members participated. The importance of the issue of Elder Caregiving cannot be overstated. Almost every member of the group has had personal experience with elder caregiving. The two overarching issues were the availability of caregivers (including the stress on family caregivers) and ensuring that elders and their caregivers have adequate information on the available resources and support. Snohomish County is fortunate to have services such as Homage and senior centers in several cities, but, the elders most in need may not have easy access to them.
The group appreciated that the League authorized and completed this study. We look forward to having positions that will allow the League to support legislation to address this issue.
