Mission
Are you looking for an easy way to learn about decision-making in your community? Members of the League’s Observer Corps listen, learn, and report factual information about proceedings in local councils, boards, committees, or commissions in our county. As an observer, you are the eyes and ears of the League. LWVSC members can read completed 2026 reports here, and click on the left hand folders for prior years.
For more information about Observer Corps, see the national League resource guide, Observing Your Government in Action.
Election Observers are invited to all Snohomish County Elections Office events. Those sign ups are listed on the Volunteering page to meet our minimum required attendees, but the number of observers is not limited.
Importance
In 2022, League observer Julie Winchell educated us about the processes for decision-making on a new airport in Washington State, and on which airports can absorb some added passenger and cargo capacity until the new airport is built. Her reports on the Commercial Aviation Coordinating Commission and the Paine Field Airport Commission are well-written and informative, and focus on issues of importance to Snohomish County residents.
As we move into 2026 and the County Charter Review, there are many opportunities to help provide transparency to the process!
