Through our Community Outreach Committee (COCO), led by Nadine Shanti, we are reaching out to diverse communities in Snohomish County to empower voters. We will also have an opportunity to provide food assistance to some of those communities for the holidays.
Hope for Homies is a 501(c)3 with a mission to inspire hope and empower purpose for those on the margins, especially individuals impacted by or connected to gangs, throughout Snohomish County. Hope for Homies does this through community building, life skills development, youth groups, education, and reentry support for those affected by gang activity.
Hope for Homies invited COCO to register voters at an event in July. Due to changes in funding the canned goods previously supplied by Volunteers of America to Hope for Homies are unavailable this Thanksgiving, so now we’ve been asked to assist in a food drive to deliver food to needy families on November 23.
Please consider helping out by bringing canned goods to our all-member meetings in November and December. All donations received will be delivered to Hope for Homies.
Remember that there will be families who are hurting this holiday season because of budget cuts to many support programs. This is a way to take up that slack. It will be a real boon to this drive if every member contributes just one canned goods item. Thank you for your generosity. We hope to see you all in November and December at the monthly member meetings. Thanks again!
