League Birthday Luncheon, February, 2017

Guest performer Debbie Dimitre presented the life of Nellie Bly. Barbara Tolbert, mayor of Arlington, received the 2017 Democracy in Action Award from LWVSC president Joan Smith.

Lobby Day, March, 2017

Organized by Kate Lunceford with support from LWVWA Vice-President  Kathy Sakahara, 14 LWVSC members attended Lobby Day in Olympia. Kathy  distributed packets of LWVWA positions for bills within the day’s committee meetings.  Several members met individually with their District legislators.

Annual Meeting, May, 2017

Socializing, voting, welcoming new League leadership, and recognizing the member contributions of the past year.

Outgoing president Joan Smith handed the gavel to Pat Fogarty Cramer and honored "Legends of the League"  Janet Chalupnik and Barbara Bush. Attorney Vicki Norris explained sexual harassment issues and responses.

Civil Discourse for Civic Engagement, October 2017

Panel discussion presented by the League in partnership with Edmonds Community College, Sno-Isle Libraries, AAUW, and NAACP. It was facilitated by Bob Drewel, former Snohomish County Executive.  Our panelists were outstanding local leaders from a variety of public arenas: education, the media, political positions, and the community.

Summer field trip, League members got a tour of the Picnic Point Wastewater Treatment Plant.
